Reactivity & Social Sensitivity

Indie reactive dog sitting on green grass, with its tongue out and eyes partially closed.

Paula, with Indy -

I was looking for support and advice with my young anxious, reactive golden retriever. I was impressed with Sezan’s knowledge and experience and that’s why I chose Oz Dogs. I am very glad I did. It was reassuring for Sezan to meet Indy and assess him after an initial in-depth virtual discussion.

Sezan gave us a clear action plan but most importantly for me, the confidence in how to manage and support Indy’s behaviour. Six months on from our last meeting with Sezan, I am so pleased with Indy’s progress. Out and about, days out, cafes, holidays, busy places with dogs, people, Indy, with our support, is able to cope much better, chill out and is much less reactive. Thank you Oz Dogs”.

Behaviour Experts Recognised By Pet Insurance

As Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourists (CCAB, CAB), registered with the ABTC, FABC and APBC, we are recognised by insurance providers. Your dog’s insurance policy may cover the cost of behaviour support.

Our Reactivity & Social Sensitivity Package is Designed for Dogs with Issues Around Unfamiliar Dogs or People; on Walks or Visiting the Home

As trusted dog behaviourists with the highest level of internationally recognised qualifications combined with over 20 years lived experience, we can help with any dog behaviour concern. We take the time to understand each dog and their circumstances on a deeper level, allowing us to offer effective, practical support that is genuinely tailored to your dog as well as your own specific needs.

Our dog reactivity package is a little different from our standard behaviour package in terms of how we structure our time with you, we use standardised templates and personalised AI support to speed up report writing, we replace on tap messenger support with a set of practical in-person sessions. What you lose in remote support, you gain with hands on in-person dog training - time with us where it matters most. If your dog is experiencing more than one behaviour challenge that you need help with, you will need a full behaviour consultation so that we can dedicate enough remote time to supporting you.

You won’t loose out on getting a personalised whole-lifestyle approach. We still take into account your dog’s history, health, and environment as well as your lifestyle and needs to adapt any plan to the individual. We help you gain a deep understanding of your dog alongside positive, practical skills to help regulate your dog’s emotions, improve their training and support them in reaching their fullest potential.

We are dog behaviourists supporting owners in person in Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Newport, Weston Super Mare, Bridgwater, Wells, Glastonbury, Thornbury, Yate, Frome, Chippenham, the Mendips, the Forest of Dean, the Cotswolds and the Wye Valley.

Reactivity packages focus on practical hands-on time with us, for socially sensitive dogs

Step 1- Initial Consultation

Starting with a remote (video) consultation, we’ll take time to explore your dog’s behaviour, explain the causes, and put essential behaviour modification foundations in place. The session will be recorded. Rather than handwriting our reactivity package reports like normal, we use standardised templates and AI support to transform the recording of your first session into a behaviour report - giving you extra time to spend with us in person.

Step 2 - Practical Support

Your package gives you kind and effective support with structured in-person sessions over a 3 month period:

• 3x consecutive site dog training sessions for issues on walks (you come to us in South Bristol) OR

• 2 consecutive home visits for issues with visitors (we come to you, subject to suitability)

Reactivity & social sensitivity packages cost £450

Evening/weekend packages are an additional £40

Step 3 - Support For The Journey

Dog behaviour consultations equip you with strong foundations to continue on your own, should you choose to.

Behaviour change is a journey, not a destination and work will be ongoing at home. For those looking for a helping hand or more advanced dog training, we are always here to help. If you are claiming through insurance, follow-on support is included as a continuation of behaviour therapy.

Frank, with Elsie -

Sezan was excellent in helping us overcoming Elsie’s reactive behaviour to other dogs. She was diligent in understanding the behaviour and analysing the root cause.

The report and subsequent training sessions and methodologies were thorough and effective. Sezan provided us with the right tools and coached us in our behaviour to help Elsie deal with and respond to the situations we were struggling with.

We are delighted with the outcome and the positive change in Elsie’s behaviour. Would highly recommend Oz Dogs for their expertise and professional competence”
